Before starting work, ask yourself a few questions:​

  • Why do they really need your services?
  • Why is your offer better than those of other companies?

The more complete the answers, the clearer the picture. Digest them, pass them through yourself, read #fourcompetitors and only then sit down at the computer.

If you have a lean, toned USP, package it in the headline. And let it be ultraspecific (“ultraspecific”). Sorry for the anglicism - I'm just melting from it.

Example. “Refilling cartridges + printer maintenance + technical. support = 2500 rub./month"

This is if the USP is based on a super favorable price. And if not? Alternatively, you can use the so-called “selling” headlines: with numbers, intrigue, questions, etc. It will help you compose them.

Introduction

Usually it is not needed at all. What did you want to write there - that refilling with toner or installing CISS is more profitable than buying new cartridges? Fathers, this is a revelation!

Joining is justified if you have an exclusive service, not like everyone else. For example, you guessed to refill an inkjet printer not with ink, but with gouache, and this turned out to be 5 times safer and more economical. Then in the introduction you can identify the problem (“Are you still refilling your cartridges with ink? And it’s not that cheap and safe”), and then quickly move on to the offer.

Offer

An offer is a set of goodies that you are going to treat your client with. What can you build an offer around in a commercial proposal:

  • Price(“Renting a B/W printer with ink for 10 thousand sheets - only 1000 rubles/month).
  • Service(“Printer/MFP service at the speed of light: one call and we’ll be with you in 20 minutes”).
  • Discounts/bonuses(“If you sign a 12-month contract, you get an HP scanner as a gift!”)
  • Guarantee(“If the courier with the cartridges is delayed, the next refill is free”).
  • Exclusivity of services(“We fill the cartridge with gouache and ox blood”).

The offer remains on the conscience of the customer: he decides what prices to set and to whom to give what discounts. The copywriter’s task is to dress the offer in a robe, place a crown, hand over a staff and seat him in this form on the throne. Let him rule.

Here is an example of a powerful offer (reflected in the title and discussed further in the text):

If you touched the offer, and it turned out to be loose and there is simply nothing to grab onto, everything is already falling apart, then write the standard: “Company XXX offers such and such. With us you can do this,” and then list the benefits.

Benefits and Advantages

List them according to the principle of an inverted pyramid: first the very best, then those that are thinner.

How to clearly present benefits to a comp representative? I love the tried and true formula:

Reputation confirmation

If the company has a full string of guarantees, take them out of the “benefits and advantages” and put them in a separate block. Here is a sample commercial proposal for refilling cartridges with a guarantee block:

Let’s say there are no guarantees with moneyback. How else can you confirm the qualifications of a gas station operator? Brief information about the company:

  • How many years on the market?
  • How many clients does it serve?
  • Are there any well-known companies among them?
  • What experience do the gas station attendants have?

Add a touch of featureism: what equipment, toner and ink are used? Brands, country of origin (unless, of course, it is Xing JiuPung and China). Sometimes it catches and inspires:

“They use some American equipment and remove the remains of the old toner.

It’s okay, I’ll order from them!”

The main thing is not to turn the text of the commercial proposal into an ode of praise to the company. A sense of proportion is the key.

Price and justification

Call to action

At the end of the sales proposal, encourage the reader to contact you and provide contact information. Preferably several - for example, telephone, email, website and Skype.

Want more requests? “Shut down” a simple action and be subtler and more tactful. For example, the call “Sign up for an annual service contract right now by phone” is bad because you are manipulating the client and blatantly imposing your option. Moreover, such issues are not resolved in a hurry.

You can attach a message about discounts or bonuses to the call if they have a deadline. In general, the call can be strengthened further.

Errors when drawing up CP

  • Official language and florid syntax, through which it is difficult to discern the offer and benefits
  • There is no logic in the narrative: thoughts and theses jump around, the reader does not understand anything
  • The CP is unstructured and poorly designed: it’s too lazy to read and scan with your eyes
  • The text is ingratiating and manipulative. The copywriter used techniques that worked during the Cold War, but died out in the age of digital advertising.
  • The KP is bloated into a multi-volume book, although it can easily be reduced to 1-2 sheets of A4 (for cold KP
